Every year the Draft Horse Light club donates money to HBS’s breakfast program. This afternoon Mrs. Lavallee and Clevette went to volunteer with the light show set up at Evergreen Park. We met so many Harry Balfour alumni with stories about our school, had fantastic outdoor weather and gave a little bit back to great supporter of our students.

Both girls volleyball teams travelled to Fairview this weekend. Thanks to the parents and coaches for a wonderful weekend. And to Ms Odenbach for being the teacher supervisor.

HBS had 14 amazing kids from Grades 1-8 race in the Sunset Scramble in Wembley this morning. Every single runner ran a great race and represented our school extremely well. They should all be very proud! Coach Pascut is sure proud of them. Thank you to Helen E. Taylor School for organizing and hosting this event. It was awesome!

highlight of 5 fabulous things that happened at HBS this week.

1. Fall Fair & School family teams. Friday we met for the first time this year in our families. We are creating a giant Where’s Waldo bulletin board with all our HBS people (thanks Ms. Vigen)! Photo dump of the day in a bit!

2. Magician Steve with a message of kindness & gratitude.

3. Ask you grade 1-6 student about the Turkey Song!

4. Grade 8 math transformation assignment.

5. This week students started looked at playground options for the new school. Community consultation up next!

Family teams are our multi graded teams that students stay in for the entire time they are at HBS. Focused on building community & connections through play, art & food. Today we played this or that (to get to know each other again), school tattoos, created a whole school art project, played some more games (kahoot, pumpkin hunt) and had a little cheese bun & peperoni snack! New friends, lots of laughs & a great way to head into the long weekend.

Five fabulous things that happened at HBS this week!

1. KinderSmart was doing all sorts of gross & fine motor activities.

2. We created a heart garden, as we learned and reflected on Canada's residential schools.

3. Helpings hands, there is always a ball that goes somewhere it shouldn't have!

4. Fine Arts option with Ms. Vigen was busy creating tic tac toe boards from clay.

5. HBS Spent the week of Truth and Reconciliation creating a handprint collage that will become an art installation.

Bezanson Bog run & Harry Balfour was well represented. Congrats to Joey for placing 1st in the 3km and Mrs. Pascut for placing 2nd in the 10km

Congrats to our Jr. high teams on their first tournament of the season. There were close sets, great come backs, superb sportsmanship & so much improvement. Big shout out to coaches Mr. Nagel, Emilee & Allee and supervisors Clevette & Odenbach for making the weekend possible.
