Spotlight on Assessment - April - Physical Education 8

A Grade 8 Dance unit in PE involved learning a process for choreography creation that included “just get started,” “evaluate the effectiveness of what has been created,” “change things that need changed,” and “repetition.” All movements were created by students as individuals and in small groups of their choosing, performed for the class, then pieces from each small group dance were incorporated into a whole-class dance. Here is a link to our finished product — an impressive 2.5 minute dance  bit.ly/43cNfHL. It is not perfect, nor was there an expectation that it would be. Evaluation of the unit was based on a rubric with the criteria of "participation, enthusiasm, and preparedness."
